Long Time, No Talky Talky

As I have been absent for a while, let me update my life these past few months.

Tracy got married in June to Randy Scott. Who would have thought?! They still love each other and are quite, sickeningly happy. Also in June, Ben and Nina had there first baby, Diego James. I promise I am not being biased, but he is the cutest baby I have ever seen in my life.

Besides these things, my mom is in her last year of teaching and will retire next May. She couldnt be more thrilled! My dad lost his job a few months ago after injuring his hand at work. He is done with physical therapy and his hand is doing great. He is still looking for work; as are half of the people in my family. This economy... ugh dont get me started on that subject!

As for me, life is pretty chill. The music school I was working at closed down, after we lost 70% of our clients during the summer, and couldnt afford to keep it open until the semester started again in august. I have been teaching privately and I love it. I travel to different parts of town during the week and teach out of homes. I wish I could do this for the rest of my life. I love teaching :] I am looking for a day job though. But after applying to over 30 places, it gets kind of discouraging.

I auditioned a few weeks ago for an orchestra that just started in the area, the East Valley Mormon Choral Organization. You know those mormons and their superior musical talent lol. Anyways, I made it. I showed up to the first practice only to find out that I was crowned first chair, beating out a gal who has her Masters Degree in clarinet performance. Way to boost my ego huh? I havent been able to perform since before my wedding a few years ago. So I couldnt be more excited to have this opportunity to have something to practice for.

Hmm. Ive had a few boyfriends this past year, and all have been great for me. Each one has made me stronger and shown me a great relationship after being divorced. Just what I needed. I now know that I am going to be ok, and everything is going to work out for me :] I am very grateful to them.

Nothing else comes to mind, so I will finish for now. Hope this is what my news-starved public wanted ;]

Skydiving! I highly recommend it :]

For my dad's 50th birthday, him and I went skydiving. It has been a life long dream for both of us!

The jumping part was awesome. I could not wait to leave the plane! The scariest part of the whole trip was the plane ride up to 10,000 feet. I hate air planes and everything about them. The plane was a 2 person craft, with one of the seats ripped out. The pilot was in a chair, and the 4 of us were strapped together sitting on the floor.

Free falling was one of the coolest, best experiences. I couldn't believe how incredibly tranquil it was. It was so quite, peaceful. I was weightless. No funny tummy feeling, nothing. Just floating in the clouds.

When the parachute opened, however, thats a whole other story! It hurt like nothing else. The harness that is around your upper thighs is what's supporting all of your weight. (see picture above to see what I'm talking about!) So for about 5 minutes, all I could feel was vinyl cutting into my legs. Well, until they fell asleep, then I couldn't feel them anymore haha. And landing was a breeze. It was incredible! I am going to try to go again in August for my birthday, let me know if you want to come!

The Scariest/Coolest/Most Adreniline Pumping Experience of My LIFE.

Ok So.
11pm. It was me, Amber, Jaime and Brendan, all gathering to watch a movie at Brendan's house. We all got pretty thirsty, Brendan didn't have anymore water at his house so we went to water 'n ice to fill up the jugs and quench our thirst.

When we got there, we were alone in the parking lot except for some creepy black people who were pretending to fill up the bottles they had. Their car was parked next to our truck. Us 3 girls stayed in the truck, while Brendan was waiting to get water. These black people were acting kind of shady and freaking us out. Out of NOWHERE, 2 huge trucks come screeching in from opposite ends of the parking lot and one of them slams into the back of the thug car, blocking our truck from being able to exit. No joke, 12 men wearing ski masks and carrying assault rifles jump out of the trucks and point them at us and yell "get down get down!" Us girls almost peed on ourselves. There we are, surrounded and trapped by a dozen masked men with huge guns.

The masked people are yelling for the black people to get on the ground. All the while more and more cop cars are gathering... The other 2 girls were ducked down under the seats, but I was in the passenger seat so I couldn't. I'm trying to calm down... and I see someone approaching from the side. Oh sh*t... I seriously must have looked like I just saw a ghost. So I'm trying to stay calm and just look forward, when one of the masked men comes and knocks on my window... He has a gun pointed at me, and says "YOU. GET OUT." I looked at him and shook my head no. Then Amber says "Bethany, he has a gun, do what he says."

So I slowly open the door, and I'm about to burst into tears. Us 3 girls hesitantly slide out of the truck. I was shaking. We said "are you police?" He replies, "SWAT ." Thank GOD! They were just undercover. We were freaking out because we didn't know if they were another gang there to collect money or drugs or to kill people or whatever. But they got all of us out of the truck and into safety, and finally detained the black drug dealers....

It was THE SCARIEST 30 minutes of my life.... It was seriously like something out of a movie.
